The PowerPulse BMX Championship marked another major milestone for the BMX community in Malta, bringing together riders from across the island for a day of high-level competition, progression, and community spirit at the newly opened Paola Skatepark.
The event featured a strong lineup of local riders competing in a format of two 1-minute runs, with the best run counting towards the final score. The level of riding on display highlighted the rapid growth of BMX in Malta, with riders pushing their limits and showcasing creativity, technical skill, and style throughout the competition.

🥉 Jake Zammit securing third place
🏆 Best Trick: Angelo Buttigieg

A key highlight of the championship was the presence of professional BMX rider David Champon, who joined the event as Head Judge. His involvement brought valuable international experience to the competition, while also giving local riders the opportunity to learn and interact with a professional athlete. His visit was made possible thanks to the support of the French Embassy.
The event was made possible through the support of PowerPulse, whose investment in the local BMX scene continues to create opportunities for riders to compete and grow. Additional thanks go to the Paola Local Council for providing the space and supporting the event, helping activate the skatepark as a hub for youth and sport.
Beyond the competition, the championship reinforced the importance of having quality infrastructure and organised events that allow riders to progress, connect, and build a strong community. The Paola Skatepark once again proved to be a key space for the development of street sports in Malta.
MSSA remains committed to building on this momentum by organising more events, supporting riders, and continuing to grow the BMX scene both locally and internationally.
