Street Sport Takes Over Ħal Tarxien

Street Sport Takes Over Ħal Tarxien

On the 5th of October, the streets of Ħal Tarxien were transformed into a vibrant, car-free space filled with energy, movement, and community spirit. The event brought together youths, families, and street sport enthusiasts for a day that truly showcased the power of activating public spaces.

Thanks to the initiative of the Ħal Tarxien Local Council, the area was turned into a safe and welcoming environment where people of all ages could come together to enjoy activities such as BMX, skateboarding, scooter riding, parkour, and more. It was inspiring to see so many participants engaging, trying new sports, and simply enjoying the freedom of a space designed for people rather than cars.

The atmosphere throughout the day was incredibly positive, with smiles, laughter, and constant movement filling the streets. Events like this highlight how urban spaces can be reimagined to promote healthier lifestyles, stronger communities, and inclusive participation.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the event such a success. A special mention goes to our partners Rush Parkour Malta, MOVE Malta, Malta Skateboarding Association (MSA), and Skate Uni, whose collaboration helped bring the event to life.

This is exactly how public spaces should feel — active, inclusive, and community-driven. We look forward to continuing this momentum and bringing street sport to more towns across Malta.
